Artists / About

 

Running Sculptures is a Copenhagen based dance company established in 2010. Since 2017 Running Sculptures presents the artistic work of the dancers and choreographers: Mette Møller Overgaard, Marlene Bonnesen, and Lars Dahl Pedersen. The three artists are working in collaboration focusing on sharing, developing and challenging their choreographic practices. The company produces choreographic work and engages in activities that contribute to the dissemination and knowledge of movement-based choreography and contemporary dance. Besides dance performances, Running Sculptures carries out touring, teaching and other artistic activities and collaborations between artists in different art forms. Lars Dahl Pedersen is a contemporary dancer and choreographer based in Copenhagen. He is educated from The Danish National School of Performing Arts 1995-1999 which includes a range of different artistic and pedagogical activities; specifically, a research-related approach in his choreographic work; for instance, exploring the Avant-garde American writer Gertrude Stein in the choreography Always Now Slowly (2010) and the participatory choreographic game Med kroppen på opdagelse – What we do but don’t know (2018). Pedersen’s choreographies have been influenced by the British choreographer Rosemary Butcher; for instance, the practice no room for the instinctive (2014). In 2016 Lars Dahl Pedersen graduated with an MA in Philosophy with concentration in Phenomenology and Philosophy of Mind from University of Copenhagen and KU Leuven, Belgium. In April 2020 Pedersen started as a PhD student at Aarhus University and VIA University College and is part of the research programme Playful Learning Extension.

Marlene Bonnesen holds a BA Diploma in dance and choreography from The Danish National School of Performing Arts. She is freelancing within the contemporary dance and performance field, working with various independent choreographers and groups such as GAZART and Running Sculptures. From 2014 to 2017 she was working in the Catalan company Ángels Margarit / cia. Mudances in Barcelona. As a constant, she is part and co-organizer of the artistic collective DANSEatelier; a physical space and a group of colleagues, friends and collaborators working together and running a shared atelier in Copenhagen. Her artistic drive has many faces and phases, and she often keeps her interest in dance and choreography alive by sharing knowledge in several teaching constellations.

Mette Møller Overgaard works as a choreographer, dancer and an artistic leader of the company MeDeHeLe dancecompany. She has a diploma from Iwanson School of Contemporary Dance in Munich, where she graduated as a professional contemporary dancer in 2009. In 2014 Mette graduated from at the Dance Partnership programme at The Danish National School of Performning Arts. At the two-year graduate programme Mette studied the combination of artistic and educational practice with a view on developing and carrying out artistic projects in which the participants’ physical, social and creatively established experiences are central.
