Dance as Practice

Dans som praksis

The artist-in-residence project Dans som praksis has run since 2018 and builds on the earlier project D.A.N.S. (2011-2017) with support from the Danish Arts Foundation and Dansehallerne. A group of professional dance artists visit high schools in the Sealand area. Every year around 5-12 high schools participates with students (15-19 years old). The teenagers meet at their home school dance as an art form and aesthetic expression, engage in creative choreographic processes and challenge their own dance-making and performative competencies. In order to motivate dialogue, debate and participation, the students also experience professional dance works and research methods performed by the dance artists. The students expand their own bodily intelligence and can use the experience in many other aspects of their lives and studies.
